Fantasy Sports-Who's the Best Free Service?

I know this isn't technically a rant, but I thought about the plethora of free fantasy sports services being offered and wondered which was the best.  So, I joined three different services, Yahoo! Sports, ESPN, and CBS Sports, and I'm going to review their various services and user compatibility throughout the upcoming NBA season.  I choose a head to head format on each service with a snake-style draft.  I'm going to rip through the services and notifications and tell you where to play your fantasy sports in the future.  First, let's check out the formatting on the pages.

A Nightmare of a Rant

Ok y'all, this is my first rant hope you guys enjoy!

With Halloween coming up in a couple of weeks, I want to do my first review/rant over some of the worst and most overrated movies. Today, I want to review one of my favorite horror films of all time, A Nightmare on Elm Street. Many of you might be wondering, if you are going to review bad horror films then why are you reviewing your favorite? Well, I am going to be talking about the crappy sequels and give my thoughts on the reboot that came out about a couple years ago. To kick things off, for many of you people who might not have a clue what this movie is… A Nightmare on Elm Street is about a child murderer/molester named Freddy Krueger who was killed in a fire by a bunch of pissed off parents. Freddy then comes back from the dead to seek revenge on the children who snitched on him. And to top it all off he kills you in your sleep; enough said about the plot, now
onto the review…

The first two movies were written and directed by Wes Craven and starred Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger. One of my favorite scenes from this movie (not to mention one of the most memorable scenes in film history) is when Johnny Depp gets sucked into his own bed and his blood is spewed all over the ceiling. Home makeover anybody?

The first film was great! The second one is...eh...ok. After the second movie the rest of series went down the crapper when Wes Craven handed his series over crappy film writers who tried to give more of a comedic tone, the sequels had terrible acting from both the supporting cast and from Robert Englund himself who once took this role very seriously. Honestly, Englund is Freddy Krueger, but I think I would’ve dropped out of the role once I knew that the character I originated changed. The sequels also featured over the top gore scenes that were almost the equivalent of the Saw and Hostel series. One example from Part 3 when one character got his Achilles tendons strung-up like a puppet. 20 years later after the release of Wes Craven’s New Nightmare ( a movie about what if Freddy existed outside the movie world). New Line Cinema and Warner Bros got together to work on a reboot of the franchise after the “success” of Friday the 13th reboot (God I hate that movie…). The reboot however, I liked. The reboot featured Jackie Earle Haley (Who played Rorschach in Watchmen) playing as Freddy Krueger. The reason why I liked this film is because the original film didn’t fully explain Freddy’s back story. This one went into detail about who he really was and went into more back ground of the kids who were victims of Krueger. So to wrap everything up here, The original film was AWESOME and the sequel was good. If you guys have any questions leave me some in the comment section or at mediafiendrants@gmail.com

A Fiend in Training

We've taken a potential new fiend under our wing in Matt.  Matt is...a little wild, but we'll try and refine his critical eye and see if he doesn't have what it takes to be a true fiend.  Matt is the lord of opinionation; now we need to help him add justifications behind his opinions.  Matt is full of hate for bad movies (even though I questions his taste at times), and he will offer up a comment about most anything, even if it doesn't make sense.  Matt is on a leash for now; if we ever unleash him, God help you!

Introducing the Fiends

The Media Fiend Rants is a blog that will watch, review, critique, and bitch about everything in the media, including television stations, movies, TV shows, music, and anything else that tickles our fancy.  We are going to use video, photos, and written entries to volunteer (or force feed) our opinions to the world.  As it stands, Moulin Rouge will be the first victim of our special brand of criticism.  But first, we must introduce the fiends...

I am Corey S. and I am the big heavy of the page.  I love everything media, as long as it's good.  My standards are high and I refuse to compromise.  I tend to be the angriest member of the page, screaming and stomping to get my point across.  I might be loud and boisterous, but I always make my point.  I'm right and your wrong, dammit, so don't start with me!

Next up we have the "comedian" of the page, Ryan.  He's sarcastic about everything, and his humor tends to run the gambit from dry to straight up unpleasant.  He will go anywhere to get his point across, and he frequently acts as my foil, a role he is well suited for.  Ryan regards himself as a music buff, but I'll leave that to you all to figure out.  Just pray he doesn't get his guitar or bass or other guitar or other guitar or other guitar or other guitar or other guitar or harmonica or keyboard or talent (it has to be somewhere) out...

This is Corey P., aka DJCJ.  This is the man with a conscious, a blessing given how morally bankrupt Ryan and I are.  He is a man of many tastes, but nobody else shares them.  He will talk about anything media, but he is probably the only one on here who will dive into media ethics (Lord knows I won't).  DJCJ will definitely let you know who he is; you have to decide if you really wanted to know it.

It's probable that we will have more contributors going forward, but until then, you've met the fiends.  Now it's time for the rants to begin...
